Mexican Style Spice Rub for Turkey | Chicken
To add more complexity to a turkey, try this Mexican-inspired spice rub. This rub can be used on the outside of the skin, or rubbed under the skin, to intensify the Mexican flavors of a South of the Boarder Style Beer Brined Turkey.
Makes: 1/2 cup of spice rub

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon cumin, ground available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 tablespoon coriander, ground available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 tablespoon paprika, sweet available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 tablespoon salt, kosher
- 1 tablespoon peppercorns, black freshly cracked
- 1 teaspoon ancho chili powder available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 teaspoon chipotle powder available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 teaspoon oregano, Mexican, dried available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder, roasted, available at Savory Spice Shop
- 1 teaspoon lime, zest fresh

Mexican Style Spice Rub Directions:
- In a small bowl, mix together the cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, pepper, ancho, chipotle, oregano and garlic powder. Add the lime zest and mix the spices together. Place this spice rub into a jar until ready to use. This rub will last for 3 months.
How to Use:
- Sprinkle the rub over a washed and cleaned turkey evenly. Rub it evenly into the skin and | or under the skin. Then allow the turkey to marinate for 2 hours, while the turkey slightly warms on the counter, in a roasting pan, before cooking.
